Privacy
LOSTFALL has no reader accounts or advertising. This page explains how the site handles data.
What reaches the server
Like any website, each page you open sends a request to our server, through Cloudflare’s network. The request carries what every browser sends: your IP address, the page asked for, and the name and version of your browser. Cloudflare and our server use it to deliver the page and to protect the site against abuse, and the server keeps a technical log of these requests.
Files served by this site
Fonts, pictures, scripts and recordings are served from lostfall.com. The fonts are hosted with the site, so your browser does not request them from Google Fonts.
Audience measurement
We count visits with Umami, an open-source counter that runs on our own server and is loaded from lostfall.com. For each page viewed it records the page, the site you came from, your browser, operating system, type of device, screen size, language and approximate location.
It also records where the pointer moves, where you click and how far you scroll, to draw a heat map of each page. Session recording is switched off.
It does not store your IP address or your browser’s full identification string, sets no cookie and writes nothing in your browser. These figures help us understand how the site is read. We do not sell them or use them for advertising.
Do Not Track and blockers
If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, neither the counter nor the heat map runs. Depending on their settings, content blockers may stop the counter and the heat map. Blocking them does not prevent you from reading the site or listening to the radio.
The radio
The radio page loads its recording only when you press Listen. It plays nothing on its own and stores nothing in your browser.
Your feedback
The feedback page is the only place on this site that sends what you type, and only when you press Send. Your two answers, your comment if you write one, and the page’s language then go to a private Discord channel that only the LOSTFALL author reads. Your IP address, your browser details and the page you came from are not passed on.
The relay that forwards them writes nothing to disk and logs no content. To limit repeated sending, it turns the connection’s IP address, mixed with a random value that changes at every restart, into a code that cannot be reversed, and counts in memory over fifteen minutes. The heat map is switched off on that page: a click there is an answer. Discord then handles the messages under its own privacy policy.
Nothing asks who you are, but a comment can say it: leave out your name and contact details. Messages stay in the channel until the author deletes them. Because nothing links a message to the person who sent it, we can only find yours to delete it if you tell us what it said.
The site collects no email address and has no mailing list. If you write to us, your message is used only to answer you.
Your rights
You can ask what data concerns you, have it corrected or erased, or object to its use, by writing to hello@lostfall.com. Because the counter keeps neither your IP address nor a cookie, it usually has no way of finding the visits that were yours.
You can also complain to your data protection authority; in France, the CNIL.
